We are pleased to launch the application portal for the John Alchin and Hal Marryatt Early Career Professorship. The purpose of this award is to support the career trajectory and research activity of an early-career investigator by protecting time and adding resources to help achieve success in academic medicine while furthering the mission of the department.
This professorship value is $375,000 for a 5-year term. It will be awarded to a faculty member who holds a full-time academic appointment in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine within the first 5 years of their career (i.e. academic appointment date).
Timeline:
- Call for Application: May 29th, 2025
- Deadline for Application: July 31st, 2025
- Anticipated decision to be announced: September 2025
Eligibility:
Early Career Investigators studying in all areas of research, including pre-clinical sciences, clinical research, education research and quality assurance-related research, are welcome to apply. An Early Career Investigator is defined as:
- Appointed to the department within the last 5 years (from the date of this announcement)
- Holds the academic rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor
Note: Consideration will be given to those who are undergoing the application process for an academic appointment to the department.

Adjudication:
